

The Farmville–Prince Edward Emergency Communications Center serves as the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for Prince Edward County and the Town of Farmville. The Center handles all 911 and administrative calls and dispatches services for multiple public safety agencies.
Its mission is to protect lives, property, and legal rights through effective communication, using modern technology to support law enforcement, fire, and rescue operations.
In 2025, the Center answered 72,555 calls, including 15,455 emergency calls, and recorded 29,622 calls for service. Serving approximately 30,000 residents, a staff of 20 full-time and 4 part-time telecommunicators supports multiple law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, and public works.
The Center also supports public safety training, with staff actively involved in regional emergency services and professional instruction.
