The Town of Farmville is accepting applications for a full-time Laborer II.

Qualified applicants for Laborer II must have a high school diploma or GED, moderate too high skills in maintenance, repair, and/or construction activities. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record.

Laborer II performs heavy, moderate to highly skilled manual work. Work is generally routine and requires the ability to do heavy physical labor efficiently and effectively. Works in all weather conditions and experience and skill in certain equipment. An employee works under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair and manual tasks involving all aspects of work done by the Town within the Public Works Department.
Maintenance of general property, cemetery and park properties
Street and concrete maintenance.
Water and sewer maintenance.
Perform manual laborer.
Assist in snow removal operations
General clean-up duties at the shop involving cleaning trucks and equipment, cleaning rooms and floors.
Drive and operate Town vehicles or equipment
Use of specialized tools and equipment.
Perform other tasks as required.

Hiring salary is $34,810 with benefits. Bus Driver | Part-Time

The Town of Farmville is accepting applications for part-time Bus Drivers. Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, some experience driving a passenger bus or van, and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “P” Endorsement. Must have a track record of exercising sound judgment and excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

Driving a bus or paratransit van
Providing exceptional customer service and having knowledge about the area to assist passengers
Creating a safe and welcoming environment
Maintaining a clean environment
Assisting in janitorial duties of vehicles and the FAB’s building to include administrative and bay areas

The starting hourly rate is $16.00.
